SCOTS DAD WHO TRIED TO THROTTLE HIS EX IMPRISONED AFTER BREACHING BAIL
Ben Polland, a 20-year-old from Galston, Ayrshire, has been jailed after breaching a court order not to contact his ex-girlfriend.Just hours after being granted bail, he turned up at her home, entered the garden, and demanded entry by hitting the doors and windows.
Originally, he was convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and threatening to kill her, which resulted in a restriction of liberty order for six months and the use of a tag.
Despite this, Polland repeatedly turned up at her home, showing blatant disregard for the court’s orders.
He had previously turned up at her house and threatened to kill her, then assaulted her again after being released on bail.
In addition to breaching the court order, he admitted to breaching bail conditions altogether.
Last week, Polland was sentenced to 10 months in prison for breaking the order while on bail.
A family member of the victim expressed relief, stating, “Finally we see a repeat offender given prison time as proper punishment.
He has taken no notice of any orders he was given, even once going on to reoffend hours after he left court.
The courtroom was like his playground.
Maybe now he will finally listen and change his ways.” Polland is the stepson of William Kelly, 48, who previously murdered his mother, Cathy, by dousing her in petrol and setting her on fire at her home in Kilmarnock.
A victim advocacy spokesperson criticized the justice system for its leniency, emphasizing the need for reforms that prioritize victims’ safety and ensure serious offenders are adequately punished.
