HALIFAX MAN JAILED FOR FILMING TEEN AND BREACHING COURT ORDERS

A Halifax paedophile who filmed himself having sex with a 14-year-old girl and then showed the video to her father has been sentenced to prison.

Ozain Shahzad, aged 24, was subject to an abduction warning that prohibited him from having the girl in any address or vehicle after her father sent him the video in May of the previous year.

Despite this, Shahzad was seen with the girl at a luxury apartment in Bradford months later, which led to his arrest.

Prosecutor Robert Mochrie stated that Shahzad's bail conditions, including no contact with the girl, were flagrantly disregarded when he was caught with her again.

Police found two Category A videos on his phone, recorded via Snapchat, which were later moved to a private folder and shared with the girl.

Explicit messages about their future marriage and running away together were also discovered.

Shahzad pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child and making indecent images of a child.

The court heard that the girl had requested him to take and share these images, which caused Shahzad horror upon discovering.

His defense described him as naïve and immature, suggesting that the girl was also keen on establishing a relationship.

Despite the elements of grooming in his pre-sentence report, the defense emphasized that the conversations were about marriage and that Shahzad was feeling pressured by the girl’s family situation.

The judge sentenced Shahzad to four years and nine months in prison, imposed a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and ordered him to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
