POLICE OFFICER ACCUSED OF ABUSE AND CONTROL IN AYRSHIRE
A police officer named Oliver Sage, aged 35, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court accused of multiple offences involving abuse and control against three women in Ayrshire and Glasgow.The Crown alleges that Sage engaged in a course of conduct that caused fear or alarm in a former partner at two addresses in Irvine and a pub in Glasgow, from November 1, 2015, to November 30, 2017.
Specifically, he is accused of repeatedly messaging her, questioning her, demanding to know who she was with, monitoring her movements, and controlling her social media posts.
The prosecution claims he acted aggressively towards a friend of the woman, seizing her by the body, shouting, and demanding information about their activities.
It is also alleged that Sage sat on top of his ex-partner, seized her by the neck to restrict her breathing, controlled her clothing and makeup choices, ripped her clothes, and punched her while she was pregnant.
Further charges relate to him allegedly behaving abusively toward another partner or ex-partner at three locations in Kilmarnock between December 1, 2021, and November 26, 2023.
The accusations include accusations of jealousy, questioning, offensive remarks, and coercive control, such as monitoring her movements, demanding responses to messages, and attempting to shame her for her clothing and makeup.
Finally, Sage is accused of repeatedly messaging and demanding responses from a third partner or ex-partner, controlling her social media and whereabouts, and uttering abusive remarks.
Sage was granted bail by Sheriff Nicola Patrick and is due to stand trial later this year.
As part of the bail condition, he has been banned from entering specific streets in Irvine and Kilmarnock.
