TEENAGER BRAGS WITH MACHETE ON SNAPCHAT, GETS SUSPENDED SENTENCE
A 19-year-old man, Noat Peet, of Gladstone Street, Worksop, pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon after a Snapchat video showed him walking around Worksop brandishing a large machete.
In the video, Peet stated "People won't take me for a mug" and said he would "chop people up." The incident related to an event on August 31.
Noat Peet was arrested two days later by police after the video was shared on social media.
He appeared via video link at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court and was sentenced to eight weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, alongside a £213 fine, 150 hours of community service, and 20 days of probation activity.
Police Constable Dean Fenton, who made the arrest, said: “People carrying and brandishing weapons that can cause so much devastation will not be tolerated in the Worksop area and this proves that we will move quickly to arrest these individuals and put them before the courts.”
