JAIL FOR DOMESTIC ABUSER WHO STRANGLED EX AND STABBED MAN
A man with a history of domestic abuse attacked his former partner and injured another man after visiting her residence.Tyler Ackerley had previously subjected the woman to an extended pattern of controlling and abusive behavior before he decided to carry out the assault.
Although they were no longer together, Ackerley arrived at her home and suddenly became jealous and aggressive.
He took a kitchen knife and stabbed a man accompanying the woman, wounding him in the shoulder.
Following this, he began to strangle his ex-partner until he heard police sirens, prompting him to flee the scene.
The woman sustained facial injuries during the attack in Worksop on July 2, while the man was hospitalised for a single stab wound.
At the police station, the woman described the incident and also disclosed that Ackerley had subjected her to years of abuse prior to the attack.
Police found that Ackerley had engaged in a campaign of coercive control from 2020 to 2025, which involved threats of violence and restrictions on her interactions with friends and family, as well as dictating her clothing choices.
Following the assault, authorities quickly arrested Ackerley.
Initially, he denied the allegations, but with mounting evidence and a trial scheduled, he ultimately admitted guilt.
He pleaded guilty to charges of causing serious bodily harm, strangulation, and coercive control.
On December 8, Ackerley, residing on Burns Road in Worksop, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court to four years and three months in prison.
He was also issued a ten-year restraining order preventing him from making contact with or visiting the woman’s residence.
