NINAD JOSHI FROM CREWE JAILED FOR ONLINE SEXUAL OFFENSES NEAR NANDO'S

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the Crewe community, Ninad Joshi, a 35-year-old man residing on Wistaston Road in Crewe, has been sentenced to prison after being caught engaging in inappropriate online communications with a person he believed to be a minor.

The incident unfolded outside a popular restaurant in Crewe, Nando's, where Joshi was confronted by a group known as paedophile hunters, who actively seek to expose individuals attempting to engage in sexual activities with minors.

Joshi appeared before Chester Crown Court to face charges related to his online conduct.

He pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

The court sentenced him to six months in prison and imposed a sexual harm prevention order that will remain in effect for the next ten years.

This order aims to monitor and restrict Joshi’s activities to prevent any future offenses.

Originally from India, Joshi was working in Crewe as a subcontractor for Bentley.

He held a working visa that was set to expire at the end of October, with plans to return to India once his contract concluded.

However, his activities raised serious concerns, as he had used the online messaging platform Oasis to initiate contact with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl.

In reality, the profile was a creation of the Merseyside Online Child Protection Service, a dedicated group that works to identify and apprehend individuals seeking to exploit children online.

Prosecutor Mandy Nepal explained that Joshi began communicating with the decoy on September 26 of this year.

Over time, he expressed a desire to move their conversation from Oasis to WhatsApp, a more private messaging app.

As their exchanges continued, Joshi’s language became increasingly sexualized.

He sent explicit photographs of himself and a pornographic video to the decoy, who was actually an undercover officer.

Despite these advances, Ms.

Nepal clarified that Joshi only expressed a wish to meet the girl, and no concrete plans were made to do so.

Throughout their conversations, Joshi asked if the girl would like to be his girlfriend and repeatedly called her beautiful.

The communication persisted until October 5, when the decoy was replaced by another account operated by a different online child protection group called Standing Together As One.

This group used the persona of a 29-year-old woman to continue the interaction with Joshi.

The messages exchanged between them became increasingly sexual, and they arranged to meet in Crewe.

On the day of the planned meeting, Joshi was approached outside Nando’s by the paedophile hunters.

When questioned, he admitted that he had been talking with a girl he believed to be 14 and that their conversations had become sexual in nature.

He also acknowledged that he had sent explicit images of himself.

The hunters detained him until police arrived.

During police interviews, Joshi confirmed that he believed he was communicating with a minor and that he had engaged in sexualized language and sent explicit pictures.

Judge Thompson addressed the court, expressing his disapproval of Joshi’s actions.

He stated, “It is beyond me why a 35-year-old man, particularly one who is married and working, would think it is appropriate to seek out what he thinks is a 14-year-old girl.

Children must be protected from men like you, who engage in this sort of activity.

The message has to go out to others such as you who think it is appropriate that when they are caught, they must expect an immediate custodial sentence.

And only an immediate custodial sentence could be justified.

The protection of children is paramount in my mind.” Joshi’s case highlights the ongoing dangers posed by online predators and the importance of vigilant online safety measures.

His actions, which took place in the heart of Crewe, have resulted in a significant legal consequence, emphasizing the community’s stance on protecting vulnerable minors from exploitation and abuse.
