MAN JAILED AFTER BEATING AND STALKING EX-GIRLFRIEND
Michael Merrington, 31, of Cranborne Road, harassed the victim through persistent phone calls and text messages, which included threats to share her private photos.
He also sent messages asserting that she was being tracked via anonymous social media profiles.
The woman reported these incidents to police in November 2025, along with a prior assault at her home from the previous year.
In December, Merrington made ten attempts to log into her Facebook account and attempted to access her Instagram profiles, with all attempts occurring in Crewe or Macclesfield.
The father of four was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court to serve four and a half years in prison and was issued a 10-year restraining order on Friday, March 20.
He pleaded guilty to charges of threatening to share intimate images, assault by beating, stalking, and criminal damage.
