NICKY LLOYD FROM ELLESMERE PORT CAUGHT WITH PAEDOPHILE MANUALS AND ILLEGAL IMAGES IN WARRINGTON AND BEWSEY
In August 2022, Nicky Lloyd, a man originally from Ellesmere Port, found himself once again in the criminal justice system after being caught with highly disturbing materials and violating court orders designed to prevent him from engaging in illegal activities involving children.Authorities revealed that Lloyd was discovered in possession of explicit cartoon images depicting children as young as four, which he had stored on his computer. Despite a court order explicitly banning him from possessing any form of pornography, Lloyd had continued to keep images of video game characters in states of undress, further demonstrating his disregard for legal restrictions.
The case was brought before Liverpool Crown Court, where it was disclosed that Lloyd had previously been subjected to a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) in 2017. This order was issued after Lloyd served a 26-month prison sentence following a police raid on his residence on Straker Avenue in Ellesmere Port in June of the previous year. During that raid, law enforcement officers uncovered a staggering collection of over 24,000 indecent images of children, along with extreme pornographic images of animals. Additionally, they found two paedophile manuals and an instructional chat log detailing how to sexually abuse children without getting caught.
The manuals in question contained graphic guidance and step-by-step instructions on how to select, groom, gain the trust of, and then sexually abuse children. These materials had been downloaded by Lloyd from the dark web, a part of the internet often associated with illegal activities. His online activities came to light following a tip-off, which led authorities to suspect a dangerous and persistent interest in children.
Further investigations led to Lloyd’s arrest on July 6 of this year. During this subsequent arrest, police seized his computer, hard drives, and a USB stick. Forensic analysis of these devices uncovered 12 prohibited images of children, including one depicting a girl aged between nine and thirteen engaged in sexual activity, and another showing a naked child estimated to be between four and seven years old. Prosecutor Christopher Hopkins highlighted that Lloyd’s collection also included approximately 2,000 animated images derived from video games, which depicted children in various states of undress but not in explicit sexual poses.
In addition to these findings, Lloyd, who resides on Gerrard Avenue in Bewsey, had conducted web searches containing disturbing terms such as “girls six-year-old,” indicating ongoing and concerning online behavior. His history includes a previous conviction for breaching the sexual harm prevention order in February 2021, for which he received a community order. Lloyd appeared in court via video link from HMP Altcourse, having spent nearly a month in custody on remand.
During that earlier hearing, Lloyd admitted to possessing prohibited images of children and breaching the SHPO. He was sentenced to 14 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and was ordered to participate in a rehabilitation program, complete 40 hours of unpaid work, and undertake a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
Judge Robert Trevor-Jones addressed Lloyd during sentencing, emphasizing the seriousness of his repeated offenses. He noted that Lloyd was before the court for the third time related to sexual offenses or breaches of his SHPO. The judge acknowledged that although Lloyd possessed a large number of images—approximately 1,800 to 2,000—most were animated and not of real children, depicting adults in non-sexualized but inappropriate situations. Nonetheless, the presence of 12 prohibited images of children represented an ongoing link to his offending behavior.
While recognizing the gravity of Lloyd’s actions, the judge decided to suspend the custodial sentence, considering that Lloyd had already been in custody for about a month. He warned that this case should serve as a warning, and that reoffending could lead to more severe consequences. The court ordered the forfeiture and destruction of all seized equipment and mandated Lloyd to pay a victim surcharge.
In a related case from March 2017, Lloyd, then 32 and from Ellesmere Port, was sentenced to 26 months in prison after being found with two paedophile manuals that provided explicit instructions on how to sexually abuse children without detection. Authorities also uncovered more than 24,000 indecent images of children and extreme animal pornography. Lloyd’s escalation from collecting images to seeking advice on the dark web and obtaining instructional manuals marked a disturbing pattern of behavior that led to his lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order and registration on the sex offenders’ register for ten years.
