MAN JAILED FOR 16 YEARS FOR RAPE AND ASSAULT AFTER NIGHT OUT
A man stamped on a woman's head after raping her following a night out.A court heard that in February 2021, a woman made a report of harassment against Lee Bailey, which resulted in him being made subject to a non-molestation order.
At the time, the woman also disclosed rape, but did not pursue a formal complaint then.
In August 2022, a second woman told police Bailey, 33, had raped and assaulted her.
She stated Bailey attacked her when she could not consent after drinking alcohol on a night out and had stamped on her head.
Bailey denied the offences in interviews but admitted the victim was unable to consent.
He was bailed with strict conditions but breached them within days, attempting to coerce her into retracting her statement.
The first victim later contacted police, saying Bailey breached the non-molestation order, and she wished to pursue her rape complaint.
She re-disclosed the rape in January 2023, stating he coerced her into sex and forced her out of a car into a country lane without a phone.
Bailey was convicted of breaching the order and of rape, attempted rape, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Chester Crown Court on October 31.
He was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment following a nine-day trial.
Detective Constable Abi Axon noted the bravery of the victims and praised the custodial sentence, emphasizing Bailey's danger to women and the jury's appreciation of his lies.
