RAPISTS LOCKED UP FOR COMBINED 42 YEARS
Two men have received prison sentences totaling 42 years after being convicted of historic sexual offenses involving two young female victims.James Doyle, aged 62, carried out repeated sexual assaults on one girl over an eight-year span, with his first attack occurring when she was only 13 years old.
The second victim was just 11 at the time she was abused.
The offenses took place at different locations across Nottinghamshire.
Doyle faced nine charges, including seven counts of rape, but consistently denied all allegations.
His associate, Neil Dunkel, aged 67, was charged with raping one of the victims on two occasions after Doyle had invited him to a residence.
During a three-week trial last November, the victims had to recount their traumatic experiences in court, a process made more painful by the lies told by both defendants.
The jury found Doyle guilty of seven counts of rape, as well as causing a person to engage in sexual activity and assaulting a girl by touching.
Dunkel was convicted of two counts of rape.
Both defendants appeared before Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on June 6.
In impact statements, the now-adult victims described the abuse as 'horrific,' sharing how it damaged their mental health and affected their childhoods and early lives.
Judge James Sampson sentenced Doyle to 30 years in prison, calling him 'undoubtedly dangerous' and a 'significant risk to girls.' Doyle is required to serve at least two-thirds of his 26-year sentence in custody, with an additional four years on extended licence if released.
Dunkel received a 12-year prison term.
Furthermore, both men will be registered sex offenders for life, reflecting the severity of their crimes.
