NEIKO MURRAY OF TWEEDBANK PLACED ON SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER AFTER INAPPROPRIATE INCIDENT IN GALASHIELS
A 31-year-old man from Cherry Park, Tweedbank, Neiko Murray, has been placed on the sex offenders’ register after an incident at a shop in Galashiels.Murray pleaded guilty to causing a person to be present during sexual activity.
Procurator fiscal Alasdair Fay told Selkirk Sheriff Court that on November 30, a woman working at a shop in Galashiels saw Murray appear in front of the store’s window.
He then pulled down his trousers, exposed himself, and engaged in a sex act on himself.
The shop worker went to alert her manager, and police were contacted.
Shortly after, Murray returned to the window, where the employees believed he appeared intoxicated before he left the scene.
Police officers were unable to locate Murray immediately, but later that day he attended the police station seeking information about a lost phone and inquiring whether there had been any reports about him, as he could not remember the events due to intoxication.
Murray’s sentencing has been deferred until February 3 to allow for the preparation of background reports, and he has been placed under the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act.
