GALASHIELS MAN THREW PACKET OF LAGER AT WIFE IN ASSAULT
In Galashiels, a man has been instructed to undertake 80 hours of unpaid community work after admitting to assaulting his spouse.Aaron Edwards, aged 42, pleaded guilty to assault charges relating to an incident at his Hawthorn Road residence on November 4.
Prosecutor Chelsea Martin explained that the altercation took place around 3.45pm, when his wife returned early and found him under the influence.
During the argument, Edwards grabbed a packet of Tennent’s Lager from the couch and threw it at her, causing two cans to rupture and spray alcohol over her.
He also physically held her by the body.
His wife escaped from the scene and was found at a neighbor’s house, visibly upset and with visible injuries including redness and scratches.
The court also issued a two-year non-harassment order to bar Edwards from any contact with his wife, along with the community payback requirement.
Sheriff Peter Paterson commented that the imposed sentence served as an alternative to a fine.
