NATHAN COLEMAN FROM LOWESTOFT SENTENCED IN IPSWICH FOR VIEWING INDECENT IMAGES DESPITE INTERNET BAN

In a recent development stemming from a series of criminal activities, Nathan Coleman, a resident of Lowestoft, has been handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of viewing indecent images on the internet, despite being under a court-imposed ban from doing so. The case was heard at Ipswich Crown Court, where Coleman, aged 24 and residing on Suffolk Road, received an eight-month prison term.

The legal proceedings followed an earlier admission of guilt by Coleman during a magistrates' hearing in Great Yarmouth last month. He had confessed to accessing indecent material online, an act that directly contravened the restrictions placed upon him. The court was informed that Coleman had been using a search engine that provided anonymity, allowing him to hide his activities from his partner and avoid detection.

It was also revealed that Coleman had a prior conviction from 2013 for downloading illegal images. Although he received a suspended prison sentence at that time, the sentence had since expired. However, he remained subject to a sexual offences prevention order, which was intended to restrict his online activities and prevent further offences.

The incident came to light when police officers conducted an unannounced visit to Coleman's residence in April. During the search, they discovered a tablet computer concealed beneath his bed. An open internet page on the device revealed that Coleman had been viewing fictional stories involving underage children and bestiality, which are considered highly illegal and morally reprehensible.

Magistrates in Great Yarmouth explained that their sentencing powers were insufficient to impose a suitable penalty in this case. Consequently, they referred the matter to Ipswich Crown Court, which has the authority to deliver a more severe sentence. The court's decision underscores the seriousness of Coleman's actions and the ongoing efforts to combat online sexual offences, especially those involving minors and illegal content.
