HALIFAX MAN THREATENS EX WITH A KNIFE IN BATLEY COURT CASE
A man threatened his former partner with a knife after discovering a new man at her home, a court heard. The alleged offence occurred at the victim's residence in Batley on New Year's Day this year.
Prosecutor Charles Macrae stated that on that date, Mohammed Shabaz went to the Easby Avenue address.
He informed Kirklees magistrates that the 24-year-old's ex was present with a male friend.
Upon discovering them together, he assaulted both individuals, during which he allegedly produced a knife.
Police were summoned and Shabaz was taken into custody.
Shabaz, residing on Glenholme Heath in Halifax, admits visiting the location but claims that the male who answered the door attacked him first.
He pleaded not guilty to charges of assault by beating, criminal damage, and theft of an iPhone and kitchen knife.
Magistrates scheduled his trial for April 29, with bail conditions in place preventing him from contacting the complainants or visiting his ex's home.
