MAN JAILED FOR GROOMING AND RAPING TEENAGE GIRL IN TRAFFORD
A dangerous sexual predator who groomed a teenage girl on Facebook before raping her has been sentenced to nine years in prison.Mohammed Mughal, aged 28, was the offender responsible for this crime.
He initially contacted the victim via Facebook; after a period of communication, he persuaded her to meet him.
On April 15, 2020, Mughal took her to a house in Levenshulme, where he provided her with cannabis and proceeded to rape her, locking her inside the house during the assault.
Despite this horrific attack, Mughal continued to contact her afterward through Instagram.
Later, on May 12, 2020, he asked her to meet again and picked her up in his car.
Fearing for her safety, the victim contacted police and gave them Mughal's address while in transit.
Police arrived and arrested Mughal at the scene.
He was tried and found guilty of rape and sexual assault, and today he was jailed at Minshull Street Crown Court for nine years.
Detective Constable Amy Brookes from Trafford Complex Safeguarding Team expressed gratitude to the victim for her bravery and emphasized Mughal's manipulative grooming tactics aimed at gaining her trust for his own sexual gratification.
She also highlighted Mughal's failure to acknowledge the pain caused and urged others who have suffered abuse to report it to police or support agencies.
