MOHAMMED FORASH FROM EPWORTH AND SCUNTHORPE SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IN HULL AND GRIMSBY

In a case that has shocked the local communities of Epworth and Scunthorpe, Mohammed Forash, a 44-year-old man, was convicted of serious sexual offenses involving under-age girls. The incidents took place over several months, with the abuse occurring at the Cinnamon takeaway located on High Street in Epworth, a family-run establishment known in the area.

According to court records, Forash engaged in inappropriate conversations with the young victims, often speaking to them in a suggestive manner. The abuse also involved physical contact, specifically touching the girls above their clothing, which further compounded the severity of his actions. The offences spanned from September 2011 to March 2012, during which time five young girls fell prey to his misconduct.

Following his arrest in April, Forash was taken into custody by Humberside Police. He was subsequently charged with one count of rape and six counts of sexual assault. Despite his initial denial of the charges, a jury at Grimsby Crown Court found him guilty after a seven-day trial. The court proceedings revealed the disturbing nature of his crimes and the extent of his misconduct.

During the sentencing hearing, it was noted that Forash worked at the Cinnamon takeaway in Epworth, a business that is well-known within the local community. The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed the timeline of the offences and emphasized that the victims' identities remain protected.

In a move to ensure public safety and prevent future offenses, the court sentenced Forash to 52 weeks in prison for each of the six counts, with all sentences suspended for two years. Additionally, he was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid community service and to adhere to a sexual offences prevention order indefinitely. He is also required to sign the sex offenders’ register for an indefinite period.

Following the conviction, Humberside Police issued a statement encouraging other victims of sexual crimes to come forward and report any incidents. The police emphasized their commitment to bringing offenders to justice and safeguarding the community.

Forash remains remanded in custody at present, with his sentencing scheduled to take place at Hull Crown Court at a later date. The case has served as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for ongoing support for victims of such heinous crimes in the areas of Epworth, Scunthorpe, and beyond.
