MOHAMMAD ILYAS SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN SLOUGH FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULTS

Following a thorough investigation conducted by Thames Valley Police, a man has been formally sentenced for his involvement in heinous criminal acts involving rape and sexual assault that took place in Slough. The accused, Mohammad Ilyas, aged 24 and residing in Chalvey Park, was handed down a six-year prison sentence during proceedings held on February 27.

The legal case against Ilyas was significantly developed after he entered a guilty plea to multiple charges during a previous hearing on December 20 of the preceding year. Specifically, he admitted to two counts of rape and a charge of sexual assault by penetration. These offences had a profound and damaging effect on the victim's life, and the court's decision reflects the seriousness of his crimes.

In addition to his prison term, Mohammad Ilyas will now be subject to lifelong registration as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions aimed at protecting the community from potential future harm. This measure underscores the severity with which the justice system views his actions.

The incident in question occurred in March 2021, when Ilyas committed a sexual assault and rape against a woman in her twenties in Slough. The victim’s brave decision to cooperate with law enforcement and support the investigation was instrumental in securing a conviction.

Ilyas was apprehended by police on April 4, 2021, approximately a year after the incident, and was formally charged on July 27, 2022. The investigation was led by Detective Sergeant Thomas Harman, who works at Slough police station. In comments reflecting on the case, DS Harman stated: “Ilyas’s actions had a severe impact on the life of the young woman he attacked. Thanks to her incredible courage, strength and support, we were able to prove what happened and bring Ilyas to justice. I hope this case shows that we take all reports seriously and will work tirelessly to bring offenders before the courts.”
