MICHAEL AND ERIC GREENWOOD SENTENCED FOR ABUSE IN LEICESTER AND TORQUAY

In a harrowing case that has shocked the communities of Leicester and Torquay, two brothers, Michael Greenwood and Eric Greenwood, have been convicted and sentenced for their involvement in a series of heinous sexual offenses against young girls during the 1980s.

Michael Greenwood, aged 55 and residing on Bateman Road in New Parks, Leicester, was found guilty by a jury of two counts of rape against two separate schoolgirls, along with four counts of indecent assault on one of the victims. The court heard that Greenwood subjected the children to a sustained campaign of sexual abuse over several years, beginning when one of the victims was just nine years old. It was revealed that Greenwood's abuse was so severe that one of the girls became pregnant as a result.

During the trial at Leicester Crown Court, it was disclosed that Greenwood had groomed and assaulted his first victim from the age of nine, raping her from the age of 14. Despite the evidence, Greenwood maintained his innocence, claiming that he only engaged in consensual sexual acts with the first victim twice, which he alleged occurred in public toilets and at her instigation.
