MICHAEL RAWLINSON SENTENCED IN RUNCORN FOR VIOLENT ATTACK ON SISTER-IN-LAW
Michael Rawlinson, a resident of Kestrels Way in Runcorn, was sentenced to 37 months in prison following a violent assault on his sister-in-law, Ms Rigby.The court was told that Rawlinson broke into her home, repeatedly punched her in the face, and caused severe injuries while her children hid upstairs in fear.
The incident reportedly stemmed from ongoing disputes linked to allegations of infidelity.
Rawlinson, who has previous convictions for assault, intimidation, criminal damage, and affray, was described as having smashed the front door and used a tool to gain entry before attacking Ms Rigby.
During the assault, she believed she had lost consciousness.
Police were forced to intervene using capsaicin spray and physical force to disarm him after he became aggressive and brandished a knife.
His defense team acknowledged his remorse and mental health struggles, including depression, and emphasized that he is a father to three children.
The judge characterized the attack as 'truly nasty' and expressed deep concern for the trauma inflicted on the children.
The court condemned Rawlinson’s actions as a serious and horrifying assault, highlighting the significant impact on both the victim and her family.
