TEACHER BANNED FOR SEXUAL MISCONDUCT AND CHEMICAL ABUSE WITH PUPILS
A conduct panel has concluded that Michael Pedley, aged 67, a former educator at the now-closed Needwood School located in Rangemore Hall, Burton, Staffordshire, committed serious professional misconduct involving the sexual abuse of students during the period from 1981 to 1987.Pedley was accused of 17 charges by five students, with eight of these allegations being substantiated.
The panel found that Pedley's actions included having sexual relations with a pupil in a gym storeroom, where he instructed her to lie down on a fitness mat before climbing on top.
He was also found to have engaged in inappropriate physical contact, such as touching a student's breasts in a corridor within the school.
Furthermore, Pedley was accused of instructing another female student to inhale chemicals applied to a cloth, leading her to experience dizziness, blurred vision, and fainting.
Pedley has denied all allegations but was cleared of charges in criminal court in 2017 and 2018.
The Teacher Regulation Agency’s ruling permanently bans him from teaching or working with children in England, citing the seriousness of his misconduct, which involved significant sexual abuse of vulnerable children and a notable absence of remorse.
