SOLDIER JAILED FOR BRUTAL ATTACK ON PARTNER AT MILITARY BASE
A military court found Michael McClarence guilty of inflicting severe injuries on his partner, Jessica Connolly, at a military installation. On March 23, 2022, an incident was described where McClarence and Ms Connolly, who was employed at RAF Valley, engaged in a heated dispute.
The investigation revealed that the conflict stemmed from McClarence’s jealousy and suspicion that she was seeing another man.
He followed her to her single quarters where the argument intensified.
During the clash, he prevented her from leaving and threw her toward a door, resulting in her hitting her head on a sink and losing consciousness.
The court also heard that McClarence engaged in gaslighting by claiming she had tripped and fallen down stairs, persuading her not to seek medical attention.
As a consequence, Jessica Connolly sustained a fractured skull, brain injuries, and developed PTSD, which ultimately forced her to leave her Army service.
She suffers from ongoing health complications including hearing loss, speech difficulties, and potential epilepsy.
She expressed concerns that her injuries could be fatal and described the profound effect on her daily life.
The judge sentenced McClarence to four years in prison for wounding with intent and issued a lifelong restraining order barring him from any contact with Ms Connolly.
It was also revealed that McClarence had undiagnosed PTSD resulting from his deployment in Afghanistan, which has now been diagnosed and treated while in custody.
Authorities emphasized their dedication to combating violence against women and encouraged victims to come forward for help.
