BURTON OFFENDER MICHAEL GOZDEK ADMITS TO POSSESSING OVER 20,000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In May 2021, Michael Gozdek, a resident of Burton, admitted to downloading more than 20,000 indecent images of children.Police intelligence tracked Gozdek, of Wood Street, after discovering that two of his computer devices contained a large number of such images.
On Wednesday, May 12, Gozdek appeared at Cannock Magistrates' Court where he confessed to making 3,748 Category A indecent photographs of children, 2,267 Category B images, and 14,564 Category C images.
He also pleaded guilty to possessing 40 prohibited computer-generated images of a child and an extreme pornographic video depicting, in explicit and realistic detail, a person engaging in intercourse with dogs.
The offences occurred over a period of 14 months in Burton.
Prosecutor Alicia Perry explained, "In 2017, intelligence indicated that a device using an IP address was involved in possessing indecent images.
Despite unsuccessful initial attempts, the defendant was eventually arrested, and an examination of two of his devices revealed the images." She added, "He admitted to downloading these images, and the number of images is high." Gozdek was not represented in court and was informed that his case will be transferred to Stafford Crown Court for sentencing, with a date to be scheduled following a pre-sentence report.
He remains on unconditional bail until his next court appearance.
