HALIFAX MAN MICHAEL DUCK SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE
A man from Halifax, identified as Michael Duck, has been sentenced to prison after authorities uncovered an extensive collection of illegal images depicting child sexual abuse on his electronic devices.The investigation revealed that Duck, aged 48 and residing on Harewood Avenue in Halifax, possessed more than 55,000 images that were classified as child sexual abuse material, along with other prohibited content involving extreme pornography.
Following a thorough trial at Bradford Crown Court, Duck was found guilty on multiple charges, including four counts of creating indecent images of children, possession of extreme pornography, and possession of images deemed prohibited by law.
The severity of his offenses and the volume of illicit material he stored prompted the court to impose a significant sentence.
On Thursday, the court sentenced Duck to 21 months in prison.
In addition to his incarceration, he was subjected to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his activities and contact to prevent further offenses.
Furthermore, Duck was ordered to register as a sex offender for a minimum period of ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Denis Parke, a member of the Calderdale District's Online Child Abuse Investigation Team, emphasized the danger posed by individuals like Duck.
He stated, "Duck posed a significant risk to children, and we are pleased that he will now face a custodial sentence for his crimes." Det Con Parke described the material found on Duck’s devices as "abhorrent," noting that it depicted the most serious sexual offenses committed by adults against children and animals.
He highlighted the importance of the police’s work in combating online child abuse and protecting vulnerable victims.
He further explained, "Our team is dedicated to targeting those who exploit the perceived anonymity of the internet to cause serious harm to children.
It is challenging work, but we are committed to removing dangerous individuals like Duck from the streets and ensuring the safety of children."
