TAXI DRIVER ALLOWED TO KEEP LICENCE DESPITE POLICE WARNINGS BEFORE HARASSING WOMEN
A taxi driver, Michael Boyd, 34, was allowed to keep his licence despite police warnings about his behaviour towards women. He went on to harass eight women, locking two in his cab, telling one he wanted to have sex, and demanding another woman’s phone number.
He also stalked a third woman and bombarded a former partner with calls and texts.
Boyd told a female passenger that he hated women from Kilmarnock and described them as “sluts”.
Despite concerns raised in a licensing panel and his licence being suspended twice, Boyd was eventually granted a new licence after lying to officials about earlier suspensions.
His offences continued even after licensing restrictions, and he was jailed for 15 months for these offences.
The police and council were criticized for allowing him to remain on the road despite ongoing concerns.
