2008: LOWESTOFT MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD
A Lowestoft man who sexually abused a seven-year-old schoolgirl while covering her eyes with a duster has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.Maxwell Goldwyn, 51, of Dukes Head Street, was found guilty by a jury at Ipswich Crown Court last month of three offences of indecently assaulting a child and three offences of indecency with a child.
In addition to jailing Goldwyn, Judge Neil McKittrick ordered him to sign on the sex offenders' register indefinitely and banned him from working with children.
He also made him the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention order restricting his contact with children under 16.
During his trial the court heard that Goldwyn had shown the girl pictures of naked people on his computer and had indecently exposed himself to her.
He had also asked the girl to sit on his lap and put a duster over her head to cover her eyes while she performed a sex act on him.
The offences came to light after the girl complained to family and friends.
After his arrest and in court Goldwyn denied the allegations and yesterday his barrister Matthew Gowen said Goldwyn continued to protest his innocence.
He said Goldwyn had a heart attack last year and needed treatment at Papworth Hospital.
