MATTHEW GILMORE FROM LOWESTOFT SENTENCED FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES AND EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY
In a case that has shocked the community of Lowestoft, Suffolk, 30-year-old Matthew Gilmore has been convicted of possessing and creating indecent images of children, along with extreme pornographic material.The incident came to light in May 2016 when police officers responded to a search at Gilmore’s residence on Sutherland Drive in Lowestoft.
During the police operation, authorities seized a computer tower and a mobile phone from Gilmore’s home.
Subsequent forensic analysis of these devices revealed a disturbing collection of illicit content.
The investigation uncovered ten indecent images and 28 movies classified under the most severe Category A level, indicating the material's extreme nature.
Additionally, there were ten images and three movies categorized as Level B, and a staggering 129 indecent images falling under the lowest Category C classification.
The devices also contained a number of extreme pornographic images and videos, further highlighting the severity of the material found.
Gilmore, who resides on Sutherland Drive in Lowestoft, admitted to charges of making indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornographic content.
His plea led to a sentencing that, while lenient in appearance, included significant legal restrictions.
He was sentenced to ten months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for 18 months, meaning he would not serve time unless he committed another offence within that period.
Additionally, Gilmore was ordered to complete a 45-day rehabilitation program aimed at addressing his behavior.
Furthermore, the court imposed a sexual harm prevention order, restricting his activities and contact to prevent further offenses.
Gilmore was also mandated to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, a measure designed to monitor and manage his potential risk to the community.
As part of the sentencing, he was ordered to pay costs amounting to £600.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of illegal and harmful material, especially involving minors, and highlights the serious legal consequences faced by those found guilty of such offenses.
