MATTHEW BOULTER OF GRIMSBY SENTENCED FOR VIOLENT INCIDENTS INCLUDING POLICE DOG ATTACK

Matthew Boulter, an ultra-violent career criminal born on March 2, 1988, residing on Ainslie Street, Grimsby DN32 0LY, was convicted in 2022 after a series of violent incidents. Boulter, who was described in 2019 as "Grimsby’s most violent man," was arrested on the evening of August 14, 2022, following police response to multiple incidents at a venue on Bethlehem Street, Grimsby. During the disturbance, he is believed to have assaulted two female bar staff members, a DJ, and a customer.

While attempting to detain Boulter, officers were met with violence; he punched and kicked fencing near an officer, resulting in minor injuries. Police Sergeant Xander was called to assist with the arrest, but Boulter viciously bit him on the head and grabbed and twisted his collar.

Humberside Police reported that Boulter was being taken into custody after assaulting three individuals and causing criminal damage outside the venue. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including assaulting an emergency services worker, causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, assault, criminal damage, and two counts of battery.

Detachment Sergeant Thomas Crosfill emphasized the importance of respecting emergency service personnel: “Assaulting emergency service workers is not acceptable, and our police dogs provide vital assistance to us. They are part of the police family.” He added, “The earlier incidents occurred in a very public location and will have caused distress for the victims and passers-by. We want to ensure our towns are safe for people to live, work and visit, so I am pleased that Boulter was quickly arrested and sentenced for these offences.”

He further reassured the public, saying, “Thankfully, PD Xander quickly made a full recovery and was back at work the next day.”

Boulter was sentenced to eight months in jail with no additional bans.

According to reports from ITV News and Grimsby Live, Boulter has a long history of violence. Grimsby Live highlighted his progression “from baby-faced ASBO kid to brutal street thug,” noting involvement in violent acts and prison time for roughly half his life. His criminal record includes a previous attack on a police dog in 2006, during which officers were also assaulted. By 2014, at age 23, he had amassed 60 convictions and has continued offending since.

Following his latest conviction, Boulter’s girlfriend, Georgia Michelle, took to Facebook to justify his attack on PD Xander. She claimed that the police dog “attacked him and would not let go so he bit it,” stating Boulter had “puncture marks all over his stomach” and adding, “police ain’t innocent here and they wonder why people fight and resist arrest. Fkin gross behaviour.”
