‘DANGEROUS’ SEXUAL PREDATOR WHO POSED AS SCHOOL BOY TO ABUSE CHILDREN IS JAILED
A 'deceptive' sexual predator who assaulted a 12-year-old girl has been jailed.
Matthew Barber, 28, had also posed as a school boy to convince a 15-year-old to send an explicit video of herself to him.
He was discovered after Nottinghamshire Police received reports he had been accessing indecent images from his computer at his home in Russell Street, Loughborough.
Further investigations revealed he had taken images and sexually assaulted a girl while she slept.
Detective Sergeant John Whitworth said: “Barber’s actions were insidious, deceptive and dangerous.
“A thorough investigation into the images led us to him and thanks to hard work from officers and staff involved, we were able to secure guilty pleas for all charges.
“I am pleased with the strong sentence that has been given and I hope that it brings some closure for his victims, who will each be offered support by specially trained officers.” Barber pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, sexually assaulting a child and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity at Nottingham Crown Court on February 18, 2021.
On Tuesday, June 29, he was jailed for seven-and-a-half years.
