LOUGHBOROUGH MAN CONVICTED OF RAPING UGANDAN WOMEN AFTER PROMISING THEM WORK
22nd October 2025 A rapist convicted of four counts of rape against two victims was sentenced to a total of 17 years in jail yesterday (Wednesday 22 October) – following a case in which the Judge said he ‘sought to dominate all aspects of the victims’ lives’.The sentencing hearing, held at Leicester Crown Court, follows Charles Isabirye’s conviction after a trial at the same court last month.
September 2025 A man who brought two women to the UK from Uganda has been convicted of raping them.
Charles Isabirye, aged 48, had promised the women work and accommodation, but after they arrived in Britain, he exploited their vulnerability with false promises and assaulted both women.
According to police, Det Con Sarah Le Boutillier from Leicestershire Police stated that Isabirye "believed himself to be above the law" and demonstrated "no remorse for the acts he carried out." He was found guilty at Leicester Crown Court on a trial that concluded on a Friday and is scheduled for sentencing on October 20.
The first victim initially reported him to Leicestershire Police in 2022 but felt unable to pursue the case at that time.
The second victim came forward to Northamptonshire police in 2023, leading to a full report and subsequent conviction.
Isabirye was convicted on four counts of rape related to the two women, as well as breaching a restraining order and committing three counts of witness intimidation.
Det Con Le Boutillier added that the victims showed "immense courage" in providing their statements and testimonies, and expressed hope that the verdict offers some comfort and a step toward moving forward.
