MASHIUR RAHMAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN TONBRIDGE WELLS
In a serious criminal case that has shocked the community of Tonbridge Wells, Mashiur Rahman, aged 35, has been sentenced to over five years in prison for a brutal sexual assault that took place on the town’s common area near Castle Road.According to reports, the incident occurred in November of the previous year when Rahman targeted a teenage girl who was sitting alone on a bench.
The attacker approached her and sat down beside her, initiating unwanted physical contact by attempting to kiss her.
When the girl tried to distance herself from him, Rahman responded with aggression, grabbing her and subjecting her to a sexual assault that has left a lasting impact.
The young victim managed to escape from Rahman’s grasp and sought help from a passerby, who promptly called the police.
The quick response of the bystander was crucial in ensuring the victim’s safety and initiating the investigation that followed.
Law enforcement officials launched a detailed investigation into the assault, which included forensic analysis.
The police collected DNA evidence from the scene, which ultimately led to Rahman’s identification as the perpetrator.
He was arrested on December 1 of the same year.
During his initial questioning, Rahman denied any involvement in the assault, claiming innocence.
However, subsequent evidence and legal proceedings culminated in Rahman pleading guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to charges of assault by penetration and sexual assault.
