MAIDENHEAD COUPLE JAILED OVER EARLY 90S SEX OFFENCES
Mary, of the same address, was convicted of one count of indecent assault and one count of cruelty to a person under the age of 16.She was sentenced to a total of four years and six months’ imprisonment and was also made a registered sex offender for life.
The couple were charged with the offences on January 25 this year.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Hannah Broughton said: “The victims and witnesses in this case have had to endure a long and complex investigation, and an emotive three week trial.
“I am pleased that the jury have found both John and Mary Gillies guilty and I hope that this affords the victims a degree of closure.
“John and Mary Gillies weakened the free will and self-esteem of these young people so completely that their courage in facing them and giving evidence is all the more remarkable.
“Thames Valley Police will always do all it can to investigate these sort of offences, no matter how long ago they occurred, in order to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
