DANIEL PALETHORPE FROM MAIDENHEAD FAILS IN JAIL APPEAL OVER SEX OFFENSES
In July 2022, a significant legal setback was handed to Daniel Palethorpe, a resident of Maidenhead, as his attempt to overturn his prison sentence was ultimately unsuccessful.Palethorpe, aged 29 and living on Cadwell Drive in Maidenhead, had previously been convicted of serious sexual offenses and sentenced to a substantial term of imprisonment.
On January 17, 2022, Palethorpe appeared before Reading Crown Court where he was found guilty of two grave sexual crimes involving minors.
The court convicted him of attempting to persuade a child under the age of 13 to engage in penetrative sexual activity, a crime that highlights the severity of his actions.
Additionally, he was convicted of attempting to induce a person under 16 to observe a sexual act, further emphasizing the disturbing nature of his offenses.
Following his conviction, Palethorpe was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
The court also imposed a sexual harm prevention order, aimed at protecting the community from any further offenses and ensuring ongoing monitoring of his behavior.
Seeking to reduce his punishment, Palethorpe appeared at the Court of Appeal on July 5.
Despite his efforts, the presiding judge dismissed his appeal, ruling that his original sentence was appropriate given the gravity of his crimes.
As a result, Palethorpe will be required to serve the remainder of his prison term, with no reduction granted.
This decision underscores the judicial system’s stance on protecting minors and punishing sexual offenses with strict penalties.
