MARTIN WYNNE FROM NEWCASTLE-UNDER-LYME SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN STAFFORDSHIRE
A man identified as Martin Wynne, aged 50 and residing in Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been handed a significant prison sentence after being convicted of multiple serious child sex offences committed in Staffordshire. The conviction follows a comprehensive four-week trial that concluded in November at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, where the jury found Wynne guilty of all charges brought against him. These offences, which took place during the 1990s and early 2000s, involved disturbing acts of abuse against young victims. Wynne was reported to authorities in 2020, prompting a detailed investigation that aimed to gather sufficient evidence to bring him to justice. Throughout this process, law enforcement and support services worked diligently to ensure that the survivors' voices were heard and that justice was served.
Wynne faced a total of 18 charges, which included 15 counts of indecent assault on a boy, two counts of inciting a boy to commit an act of gross indecency, and one count of gross indecency with a boy. The evidence presented during the trial was compelling enough for the jury to find him guilty on all counts, reflecting the severity and credibility of the allegations.
On Tuesday, February 18th, Wynne was formally sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court to a term of 14 years in prison. The court's decision underscores the gravity of his crimes and the ongoing commitment of the justice system to protect vulnerable individuals from such heinous acts. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need to support survivors of abuse, regardless of how much time has passed since the offences occurred.
