A man has been sentenced to prison after engaging in a stalking campaign against a woman, making approximately 600 phone calls over the course of a year.
Andrew Vaughan, aged 48 and from Newcastle-under-Lyme, received a sentence of two years and nine months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Monday, 18 May.
He pleaded guilty to charges including stalking that caused significant fear or distress, assault causing actual bodily harm, and threatening to share an intimate image or video of the victim.
From April 2025 to April 2026, Vaughan persistently contacted the woman through countless phone calls, as well as by sending texts, emails, and transferring money to try and reach her.
On 14 March, Vaughan broke into the victim’s residence.
During the incident, he verbally abused her, threw his phone at her, grabbed her wrists tightly, and slapped her across the face.
A few days subsequent to these events, he threatened to send an intimate photograph of her to her mother.
The victim then reported these incidents to the authorities, leading to Vaughan’s arrest.
While in custody, he made a prepared statement denying all accusations and responded ‘no comment’ to all inquiries.
