AMMANFORD MAN MARTIN MILLER CAUGHT TRYING TO GROOM TEEN GIRLS ONLINE IN SWANSEA

In April 2021, Martin Miller, a man from Ammanford, found himself at the center of a serious online grooming investigation after being caught attempting to engage in sexual activities with what he believed were underage girls. The incident unfolded when Miller was targeted by two separate decoy groups, Fleetwood Enforcers UK and Justice For The Tears, both of which set up fake profiles on the popular dating website WapLog to lure potential offenders.

According to reports presented at Swansea Crown Court, Miller initiated contact with a decoy operated by the Fleetwood group, who was posing as a 13-year-old girl. The profile used a photograph of a young girl, which was provided with consent by a member of the public. Miller was told that the girl was from the Chesterfield area and was only 13 years old. Over the course of their online conversations, Miller built a rapport with the decoy, gradually steering the dialogue towards sexual topics.

During the exchange, Miller explicitly asked the decoy what she was wearing and, in a subsequent conversation the following day, expressed his desire to have sexual intercourse with her if she had been older. His predatory intentions became increasingly clear as he continued to communicate with the decoy, attempting to incite her into sexual acts.

In his interaction with the second decoy, Miller sent a photograph of a couple kissing and stated that he would like to kiss her in the same manner. The court heard that he further sent highly explicit messages, expressing his affection by saying, “I really like you and I want you as a gf,” and also sent a sexually explicit image. His conversations revealed a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior, with Miller making it clear he was seeking a sexual relationship with someone he believed to be a minor.

Police were alerted to Miller’s actions after the decoy groups reported his behavior. Upon arrest, Miller was taken into custody and, during police interviews, he expressed remorse, saying, “I have done it. I am so f****** stupid.” A search of his home in Brynhafod, Tycroes, Ammanford, yielded a black Motorola mobile phone and a Samsung tablet, which were seized as evidence.

Following his arrest, Miller was formally charged with six counts of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and one count of attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act. The offenses occurred between June 15, 2019, and August 6, 2019.

At his sentencing hearing, Miller pleaded guilty to all charges. The court sentenced him to two years and four months in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for a period of ten years, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the potential risk to the community.
