MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT OF FEMALE IN NEWTOWN IN 2023
A man from Powys accused of a sexual assault that took place in Newtown three years ago has had his case transferred to the crown court.On Tuesday, June 30, Martin Mahon, 67 years old, appeared before Welshpool Magistrates’ Court and was informed that his case is indictable only, meaning it must be tried in the higher court.
Mahon, living on Heol Rhedyn in Newtown, faces a charge of sexually assaulting a female aged 13 or above through penetration with a part of his body.
It is alleged that the offense was committed at the Frolic Street flats in Newtown on March 19, 2023.
His first court appearance at Mold Crown Court is scheduled for July 31.
He has been released on bail until then, with the restriction that he must not contact the victim.
