NEWTOWN MAN ACCUSED OF RAPE TO STAND TRIAL NEXT YEAR
A Newtown man accused of rape is to stand trial at the crown court next year.
Kyle Lewis, 23, is alleged to have had sex with a woman without her consent in January last year.
The Maesyrhandir man pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Judge Timothy Petts at Mold Crown Court on Friday, October 3.
He had already denied the offence at a magistrates’ court hearing held on September 2.
Due to the seriousness of the charge, the case can only be dealt with at the crown court.
Judge Timothy Petts adjourned the case for a three-day trial which will take place at the crown court in Mold on July 6, 2026.
Lewis, of Lon Maesycoed, Newtown, was released from the dock on conditional bail not to contact the complainant nor the prosecution witnesses.
