POWYS MAN DENIES TRYING TO SEND SEXUALLY EXPLICIT MESSAGES
A Newtown man charged with trying to send sexually explicit messages to a child has chosen to have his trial heard before a jury.
Dimitrios Voreinakis is accused of intentionally attempting to chat with a 12-year-old girl, who was actually an online police officer, "for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification".
The charge stated that communication between the pair occurred on chatroom Chatiw, messaging app Kik, and WhatsApp.
The prosecution says the conversations were "both sexual and explicit".
Voreinakis, 48, pleaded not guilty to being an adult attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child when he appeared in court on Tuesday, October 14.
He was released on bail with the condition not to have unsupervised contact with any child under 16.
His case will be heard at a plea and trial preparation hearing on Friday, November 14, at Mold Crown Court.
