LANARKSHIRE PAEDOPHILE CAUGHT IN UNDERCOVER POLICE STING ASKED 'GIRL' TO MEET IN HOTEL
Martin Boyle, 32, has been placed on the sex offenders' register after he sent social media messages of a sexual nature to an officer pretending to be a 12-year-old girl.Airdrie Sheriff Court heard he told the 'girl' he wanted to meet up in a hotel for a sexual encounter and asked her to "strip for me".
Boyle admitted indecent communications with a person pretending to be a child between September 14 and October 7 last year, Lanarkshire Live reports.
The court was told that an officer created a fake profile on the Kick social media platform and within three days Boyle had sent a message.
Despite being told the 'girl' was only 12, he sent messages of sexual nature - these included asking her to perform sexual acts.
Boyle told the 'girl' he was "thinking of you in your little uniform".
The online conversations ended after a "final flurry" on October 7, and police arrested Boyle at his home eight days later.
Sentence was deferred until next month for background reports and an electronic tagging assessment.
Sheriff Paul Haran told the first offender he had pleaded guilty to serious charges and a prison sentence would be considered.
The sheriff ordered destruction of a phone and a tablet that Boyle used while committing the offences.
