YOUNG MAN ABDUCTED AND BATTERED BY RAPISTS TOOK OWN LIFE WEEKS BEFORE TRIAL
Nathan Dawson, 20, was abducted and beaten by the Gallacher brothers in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, on December 14 last year.Craig and Daniel Gallacher, who each previously served a six-year prison sentence for rape, drove Nathan to a remote location near Cumbernauld where Daniel Gallacher, who was driving, threatened to kill him with a metal bar and wrench.
Daniel pulled Nathan from the car, tripped him, and repeatedly struck him with a wrench, at least 10 times.
Craig filmed the assault on his phone.
Both brothers admitted abducting Nathan.
Craig Gallacher, 41, was sentenced to 47 months in jail, while Daniel Gallacher, 30, received 32 months.
Sheriff Tony McGlennan described the abduction as 'premeditated and calculating' and 'very sinister.' The court heard Nathan feared giving evidence against the brothers, which likely contributed to his tragic death three weeks before the trial.
Nathan managed to seek help after the attack, suffering pain and swelling but no fractures, and left hospital with a splint and crutches.
The brothers' previous convictions and their actions in this case highlight their dangerous history and behavior.
