ARNOLD MAN JAILED FOR PETROL THREATS AND CRIMINAL DAMAGE
This is the face of a man who poured petrol in the boot of his partner’s car and threatened to set her and her family on fire, stating “I will burn you all and take your whole bloodline”.Mark Whyatt, from Arnold, also forced the same vehicle off the road by grabbing hold of the handbrake, causing it to spin out of control onto a grass verge.
After driving his girlfriend and her father to Tesco supermarket in Ashgate Road, Hucknall, Whyatt collected petrol from a can in the boot, poured it into the vehicle, and threatened to set his victims ablaze.
He then wielded a small craft-style knife.
On the same day, Whyatt, who has a criminal record consisting of 62 offences and was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, visited the Radford housing complex where the victims lived and damaged a door.
He pleaded guilty to charges of affray, possessing a bladed article in a public place, and criminal damage.
At Nottingham Crown Court on April 11, Whyatt, residing on Tyburn Close, Arnold, was sentenced to 16 months in jail.
PC Ashley Lewis from Nottinghamshire Police commented, “Whyatt’s behaviour that day was utterly appalling and caused significant alarm and distress to those who witnessed it.
I am pleased he received a jail sentence and hope he uses this experience to address the root causes of his offending and receive the support needed to prevent this from happening again.”
