NOTTINGHAMSHIRE PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR FILMING CHILD ABUSE
A 57-year-old paedophile filmed himself raping a young boy and sexually abusing a girl.Nottingham Crown Court heard how videos were found on Carl Andrews’ memory card after he was arrested on suspicion of distributing indecent images of children.
When she was told about the videos, the mother of one of the victims said she felt like she had “failed as a mum”.
Jailing Andrews, of Arnold, for 13 years, Recorder Balraj Bhatia KC said: “You abused two young children and you abused them in a vile way.
"They were innocent young children who are now scarred emotionally for life because of your sexual gratification and your sexual interest in children.” Luc Chignell, prosecuting, said police arrested Andrews on December 3, 2024, after receiving information that an internet IP address linked to him had been distributing child abuse images.
He said his home was searched, devices were taken and analysed, and on them were 335 of the most serious category A indecent images of children, 319 were category B, and 773 were category C.
The prosecutor said: “On the memory card of a tablet were 84 videos, and as part of the investigation, two child victims were identified on them.
While reviewing the material, it became apparent the defendant had video-recorded his own sexual abuse of these children.
“On one, he’d videoed one of them removing his (private parts) from his trousers and playing with it and on another he attempted to open the legs of the female victim.
“When the police told one of their parents what the material consisted of, she described feeling ‘sick, angry and upset’.” In a victim impact statement, the mother, who this week bravely attended the sentencing hearing, said: "He's made me feel as though I have failed as a mum, and this is something that will never leave me or my family.
"I hope he (Andrews) thinks about it every day that he has ruined lives because of his disgusting and perverted needs.” Andrews, of Charles Street, pleaded guilty to charges of rape of a child, sexual assault of a child and inciting a child into engaging in sexual activity.
He also admitted to three counts of possession of indecent images of children.
Matt Hayes, mitigating, said his client has no previous convictions and that his guilty pleas to the charges mean the children involved did not have to relive their ordeals by giving evidence at a trial.
He said: “Hopefully that brings some comfort to those involved in this case.

“It's clear that at times he struggled to talk to the author of the pre-sentence report.
He expressed shame and embarrassment for his actions.” As well as the jail term, the judge handed Andrews a lifetime sexual harm prevention order and ordered him to sign the sex offender register, also for life.
