BOLTON RAPIST SENTENCED TO 8 YEARS AFTER ASSAULT AND BAIL VIOLATIONS
A man named Mark Watson has been sentenced for serious sexual offenses.According to the report, Watson, aged 46 and from Blackpool, finally admitted to raping a woman in Bolton in April 2024.
He was initially arrested by Lancashire Police in Blackpool in April of the previous year and admitted the charge in court in February.
Due to his actions, he is now facing a lengthy prison sentence.
Today, Watson was sentenced to eight years in prison for the rape offense at Bolton Crown Court.
In addition to this, he received a two-year sentence for a separate drugs conspiracy matter following an investigation by Lancashire Police.
The court also highlighted that Watson blatantly disregarded his bail conditions and continued relentless contact and intimidation efforts against his victim, which led to his further arrest and remand into custody until his trial.
The victim suffered significant emotional trauma, with an impact statement revealing ongoing stress, high alert, and suspected PTSD.
Detective Constable Jordan Brown from Bolton CID emphasized that Watson put his victim through a terrifying ordeal and is rightly behind bars.
The authorities urged victims of sexual violence to seek help, emphasizing the importance of believing and supporting survivors.
