MAN AVOIDS PRISON AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULTS
Despite being convicted of sexually assaulting a young woman at Northwich Station, a man was spared prison time.Last week, Mark Twite from Northwich appeared at Chester Magistrates Court for his sentencing hearing.
The 50-year-old, who resides on Maitland Wood Close, was convicted after a trial in the previous month of two sexual assault charges linked to an incident at the railway station on June 1, 2024.
He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, but the term was suspended for 18 months by District Judge Ian Barnes.
The court paperwork states that the suspension was based on the potential for rehabilitation.
Alongside the suspended sentence, Twite was issued a seven-year restraining order, a seven-year sexual harm prevention order, and was placed on the sex offender register for an equivalent period.
The restraining order prevents him from contacting the victim directly, and the sexual harm prevention order restricts unsupervised contact with anyone under 18.
Additionally, the judge ordered Twite to pay the victim £600 in compensation.
