MARK TURNER CAUGHT IN DUNNING: PUB OWNER'S SHOCKING SEXUAL MISCONDUCT WITH 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Dunning, Mark Turner, a local pub owner, has been found guilty of engaging in unlawful sexual activities with a 15-year-old girl. The incident unfolded during a period when Turner's wife was away on holiday with their children, leaving him in a vulnerable position of trust within the community.According to the detailed proceedings at the Perth Sheriff Court, Turner, aged 38, initially developed a seemingly innocent relationship with the girl, who was a friend of his step-daughter. What began as friendly interactions in 1997 gradually escalated over the course of more than a year. By Christmas 1998, their relationship had progressed to kissing and cuddling, which was a clear deviation from appropriate conduct given the girl’s age.
The court heard that in April of the following year, Turner took a further step in their inappropriate relationship. While his wife was away on holiday, he invited the girl to his bedroom at the Kirkstyle Inn in Dunning. It was there that they engaged in sexual activity, an act that was both illegal and morally reprehensible. The situation was further compounded when Turner's wife later discovered a love note that he had passed to the girl in the bar, which raised suspicions and prompted a police investigation.
During the court proceedings, Turner admitted to having sexual relations with the girl on multiple occasions. His actions were described as exploitative, taking advantage of a minor and abusing his position of authority and trust. The court emphasized that Turner’s conduct was a serious breach of moral and legal boundaries, especially considering the girl’s vulnerability and the fact that she was a minor.
As a result of his actions, Mark Turner was sentenced to six months in jail. The case has left many in Dunning questioning the safety and integrity of local figures of authority, and it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding minors from exploitation and abuse by those they trust.
