Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a man has been sentenced to prison for multiple child sexual offences committed between 1994 and 1997 in Bicester.
On Monday, July 7th, a jury unanimously convicted 62-year-old Mark Preedy of Mascord Road, Banbury, on six counts of indecent assault, two counts of rape, and two counts of attempted rape.
The verdict came after a six-day trial held at Oxford Crown Court.
Today, July 18th, Preedy appeared before the same court to receive his sentence, which totals 23 years in prison.
In addition, he was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered to pay a victim surcharge.
The prosecution revealed that Preedy befriended his first victim, who was only twelve years old at the time, and repeatedly gave her alcohol to intoxicate her before engaging in sexual assaults on multiple occasions.
During the investigation, authorities identified a second victim, who was thirteen years old when the offences took place.
Similar to the first, she was also supplied with alcohol prior to Preedy abusing and raping her.
Preedy was formally charged in 2023 after a police inquiry into his actions.
