BANBURY PAIR FOUND GUILTY OF SEXUAL AND PHYSICAL OFFENCES
A couple has been convicted of both physical and sexual abuse towards two minors.Robert and Amy Williams, residents of Samuelson Court in Banbury, initially denied a total of 10 charges against them.
Robert Williams, aged 46, faced accusations of two counts of mistreating a person under 16, three counts of raping a child under 13, and three counts of encouraging or compelling a child to participate in sexual acts.
Amy Williams, aged 36, was charged with two counts of abusing a person under 16 and two counts of persuading or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
They pleaded not guilty to all allegations, which supposedly occurred in Bicester from June 2013 to June 2017.
On May 20, Wednesday, the jury unanimously convicted Robert Williams on all charges.
Amy Williams was convicted of two counts of inducing a child to engage in sexual activity, once by unanimous verdict and once by majority.
She was acquitted of two counts of mistreating a person under 16.
Judge Ian Pringle KC addressed the jury, saying: "Thank you all very much indeed for the care and attention you have given to this very serious case." Robert Williams was ordered to remain in custody until his sentencing scheduled for June 19, while Amy Williams was released on conditional bail until her sentencing on June 24.
Pre-sentence reports were ordered for both individuals.
