PAEDOPHILE ONCE BRANDED A “HIGHLY PREDATORY” OFFENDER IS BACK BEHIND BARS
Mark Owen, aged 57 and previously residing in Caerphilly, received nearly a decade of imprisonment in 2017 after he engaged in a kiss and cuddle with a 14-year-old girl.
He had arranged to meet her at Machynlleth railway station.
During the court proceedings, Swansea Crown Court was told that Owen intended to have sexual intercourse with her and even hoped to make her pregnant.
Owen was incarcerated after admitting to engaging in sexual activities with a girl under the age of 16.
Judge Peter Heywood described him as highly predatory, with a deviant interest in young girls.
This month, Owen, now living on Cinderhill Street, Monmouth, was returned to prison after breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
Prosecutor Abdallah Barakat stated that Owen violated the order by accessing prohibited social media and dating sites via his mobile phone.
His offending occurred between October 23, 2025, and November 1, 2025, following his release from a sentence of approximately nine and a half years.
Jeffrey Jones, representing Owen, requested that his client receive appropriate credit for his guilty plea.
At Cardiff Crown Court, Recorder Greg Bull KC sentenced Owen to 27 months in prison.
Upon release, he was also ordered to pay a £228 surcharge.
