BOLTON MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT AND ENDANGERING PARTNER
A man named Mark Lord, aged 36, from Wilderswood Avenue, Horwich, was sentenced after assaulting his girlfriend during a night out in Bolton. The court heard that Lord became aggressive and argumentative after his partner started talking to an older couple.
The incident escalated into violence, with witnesses describing how Lord pushed his partner with great force onto the pavement and into the oncoming traffic, causing her head to bounce off the ground.
Witnesses saw Lord kicking at a door before attacking his partner, and he then pushed her again into traffic while she was on her feet.
The witness recounted her actions, stating that she saw Lord pushing his partner multiple times with great force.
The police responded to the scene and found the woman covered in blood, bleeding profusely from her head.
She was hospitalized with a chipped tooth, broken wrist, and a significant head wound.
Despite the severity of the attack, the victim did not support Lord’s prosecution and expressed her intention to restart their relationship once he is released.
Lord admitted to losing control, saying he "had lost it," and his prior criminal record includes 15 convictions from 26 offenses, including previous convictions related to assault on former partners.
He was represented by Ellen Shaw, who noted he had not committed any offences in two years and was undergoing therapy.
Lord was sentenced to five years in total—two years imprisonment and three years on extended licence—and the judge expressed concerns about future risk, emphasizing the significant danger Lord posed to the public.
The court was told Lord had a potential personality disorder and was on a recovery program for alcohol problems, actively engaging in therapeutic work and gaining certificates in education, medication, and alcohol recovery.
Despite his apology, the judge highlighted the risk, and Lord’s future on the community remains under strict supervision.
