BULLY BOYFRIEND ATTACKED HIS PREGNANT PARTNER AFTER SHE THREW HIS COCAINE OUT OF THE CAR WINDOW
Mark Beardmore, aged 34, had been to a rave and had smoked monkey dust before attacking the victim by punching her five times in the face.During the court hearing, it was revealed that Beardmore once told her, 'You can bin bag the baby.
I hope you both die'.
He also threatened to slit her throat if she reported his actions to the police.
Beardmore has now been sentenced to a year in prison.
Prosecutor David Bennett stated that the defendant had been in a relationship for a year, and she was pregnant with his child at the time of the incident, which occurred over the night of October 12 into early October 13.
At the time, Beardmore and his mother, who had become homeless, were residing at his partner's house in Milton.
Both he and his mother smoked monkey dust while at this address.
The trio then went to a Stoke rave at midnight, where Beardmore grew jealous when his partner spoke with two men.
According to Mr Bennett, "The defendant became angry.
He became involved in a verbal altercation with another man and had to be separated by security staff." They left the club at around 12:30 am on October 13.
The victim stopped at a petrol station to buy cigarettes, during which Beardmore threw her phone charger out the window and took her cigarettes and phone, sitting on her phone to prevent her from reaching it.
She sounded her horn, prompting Beardmore's mother to retrieve her charger.
The victim attempted to drive away but was blocked by a police vehicle; Beardmore provided false personal details to officers.
The victim explained she did not want him in her car, especially since he held her house keys.
She then drove off with Beardmore's mother, who was forced to pull over at another location.
Later, Beardmore and his mother engaged in drug use, and the victim expressed her desire to leave.
The three left at 3 am.
but Beardmore damaged the ignition key during the drive, which she managed to straighten.
His anger escalated, and he pulled the handbrake, causing the car to halt in the road.
The victim threw some of his drugs out of the window.
In an aggressive outburst, Beardmore said, 'You can bin bag the baby.
I hope you both die,' and called her a slag.
The victim sounded her horn to attract attention, and Beardmore then punched her three times in the face and lip.
In self-defence, she punched him twice.
He apologised afterwards, but then he smashed her car with a handlebar when she told him the relationship was over and instructed him to leave.
Police arrived around 6:15 am, during which Beardmore threatened to slit her throat if she told the authorities and spat in her face.
She was too frightened to drive off, and he refused to exit the vehicle.
The woman sounded her horn again, and officers attempted to arrest him; he jumped into the back of the car and resisted arrest until subdued.
In her victim statement, the woman expressed her desire to have no further contact with Beardmore and her wish to move on, stating, "I feel a shadow of the person I used to be." Beardmore, of Berdmore Street, Fenton, admitted charges of causing actual bodily harm, criminal damage, witness intimidation, and obstructing a police officer.
Defence attorney Paul Cliff described the injuries as a split lip and characterised Beardmore’s behaviour as pathetic and spontaneous, linked to substance abuse.
It was noted Beardmore had already served five months in custody, equivalent to a 10-month sentence.
Recorder Robert Smith imposed a restraining order banning him from contacting the victim for ten years, emphasising that his aggressive, intoxicated conduct characterised as bullying and intimidating would result in immediate custodial sentences for such behaviour in future cases.
